Igniting the Work of God in the Campus

I’ve attended a lot of conferences in our movement and I can attest that every event is a divine encounter with our God and a confirmation of my calling to be a light and salt of this world. This year, everyone is excited to be part of a huge gathering of students all over Asia and that is “IGNITE 2015”.

Ignite is set to to happen on June 2-5 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Ignite is set to to happen on June 2-5 at the Araneta Coliseum.

More than 13,000 students have registered to the said event which will be held at Smart Araneta Coliseum on June 2-4, 2015. With that in mind, I realized that it’s not easy for students especially in the province to be part of it. They have to raise money for their food, accommodation and fare. As campus missionaries, we have this notion that we have to do the “same strokes” of raising funds again. But then, I am reminded of how powerful our Great God is. He is challenging our limited minds to believe that He can PROVIDE for everything that we need.

Current participant count is at more than 13,000 delegates!

I want to share with you some lessons that helped me when I was on the “same boat” with these students many years ago, and still applies into my life as a servant of Jesus.

Test of Faith.

An event like this would likely test your faith. In desperate times, people occasionally respond in giving up rather than believing for a miracle. We end up being frustrated because we think that people around us is the source of provision rather than God. It’s a sad reality to miss the point of why God putting our faith into a test. He allows “hardships” in our life and in the lives of the students (like asking for permission from parents, doing fundraisers to generate money and pressure to meet payment deadlines) so that, we can truly rely on Him alone. He is the only answer.

For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. (James 1:3-4 NLT)

ignite quote

Overcoming Fear.

We all have fears. Students have the tendency to develop this kind of thing because of uncertainties whether they can make it to the conference or not. One thing that help me overcome my fear especially when I prepare for a conference is to have the confidence to say that it is the Lord who sends me to the conference. I am confident because that is His promise for me. I am a “representative” of God and being a bearer of this means that everything will be provided and His presence is always with me.

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV)

Working with the Holy Spirit.

I always look forward to allow God the Holy Spirit work in my life especially when I travel for conferences. My heart bursts into joy knowing that it would be an opportunity for me to partner with my Great Counselor. It would be a great time to have fellowship to Him. We believe that Ignite Conference will be a celebration of the Holy Spirit and He will truly work in the lives of those who will take part of it.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. (2 Corinthians 13:14 NLT)
